Dinner in Atrium Saldanha,

This time are going for dinner at Atrium Saldanha. This is a good looking and modern small shopping Center.
In the ground floor it has a dining area where we can have dinner with food chosen from several restaurants.
This is a very busy area at lunch time during the working days, but in that evening usually doesn’t have that much people.
I will be in front of the statue of Saldanha, in the middle of the roundabout - after the new renovation, the Saldanha roundabout, doesn’t’ look that much like a roundabout.
This is the statue in the top picture of this event, but you can only see it if you are in the laptop. (This is not visible in the mobile version of the site)
I will be there wearing a dark blue cap.
I haven’t eaten there since years!

Visiting Monastery of Jerónimos

Visiting Monastery of Jerónimos,

Cost: 2,5 euros for the train ticket [free if you have Lisbon's monthly transportation card]; the entrance is for free.
Built in XVI century, Monastery of Jerónimos was created to commemorate the Portuguese’s discovery of the world.
We are going to the visit this magnificent place in December.

Dinner in Colombo Shopping

On Tuesday we are going for dinner in Shopping Colombo [metro “Colégio Militar/Luz”, blue line].
It is the second biggest shopping centre in Portugal. It is plenty of options where to spend money.
Anyway … I am going there only for dinner.
We will meet in the ground floor and then goto eat in the top floor where there are many restaurants from where we can choose.
We will meet inside the shopping, in front of the big glob in the picture about (only visible if you are not in a mobile phone). Just walk around or ask for it if you cannot find it.
I will be there wearing a dark blue cap.

Night walk trough Lisbon's viewpoints

Thursday night we are going for a walk trough some of the best Lisbon's viewing Points.
We will walk up and down hill for about 5 km.
On our way, I will tell you short stories about the history of the places that we are crossing.
This trip will take us about 2 hours it will cost 10 euros per person.
Then we will end up having some drinks in viewpoints of Santa Catarina.
We will meet in Praça do Comércio/Trade Square, in front of statue of D. José, in the centre of the square.
I will be wearing a dark blue cap.

Bring comfortable shoes and lets go to explore Lisbon.

Drinks in Bairro Alto

On Tuesday night we are going for some drinks in Bairro Alto.
We will meet in Praça Camões [metro Baixa/Chiado – Blue Line] at 20:45 and then go to the top roof bar “Park”, which is 5 minutes away. A fation place with a wonderful view over Lisbon.

Dinner in Olivais

On Monday we are going for dinner in Olivais. More specifically, in Olivais Shopping - http://www.spacioshopping.pt/
 
Olivais Shopping, nowadays called ‘Spacio’, was one of first Shoppings in Lisbon and it was very popular in the nineties. Nowadays it is out of faction, mostly because other bigger and better located shopping centres have appeared. Note that it even doesn’t has a website in English. :)
Usually it is not very busy and it is plenty  of space which is good for a big group.
We are going there for dinner. It has several restaurants where we can choose all the kinds of food.
We are meeting in front of the shopping entrance which is in street "Cidade de Bissau". You can see it here (pictures are only visible if you are using the desktop version of this site):

Mercado da Ribeira is an old market where people used to sell all king of grocery good. It is still used for that purpose, but it has been renovated and is now a tourist spot – now called Timeout

It is a place where you can buy several kinds of traditional produtes.

It also gathers several restaurants.

We are going to explore it on 6^th of November.

We will meet meet at the train/metro Station Cais do Sodré and go there for dinner.

I will be in front of the train's ticket office and the super market 'Pingo Doce' wearing a blue cap.

Dinner in Barreiro

This time we are going to the far wild other side of the river – to Barreiro.
We will get there by boat from Terreiro do Paço (metro's blue line).It takes about 20 minutes to get there.
We will have a dinner and check some local bars around there. Then we will take the boat back to Lisbon. The last one departures from Barreiro at 1:30 am.

Tomar in an old city founded by the Templars during the time of the Christian reconquer.
A city full of history which we are going to visit in meddle October.

Visiting Theatre and Dance Museum

Visiting Theatre and Dance Museum
Cost: Free
This time we are going to visit Theatre and Dance Museum.
The idea of creating in Lisbon a theatre museum comes since long time ago, however, only recently was possible to make it true.
The museum opened in 1985 and it has today around 300 000 pieces from the most diverse costumes. Lest go to see them and also get to know more about the evolution of arts in Portugal, specially along the last century.

The place as also a very beautiful garden behind which it worsted to visit.

We will meet at metro exit in street “Estrada Torre”, next to supermarket Europa, Lisbon at 10:30

Visiting Lisbon's Orient Museum

On Friday 30th evening we are going to visit Orient museum in Alcântara.

We will see dolphins, lions, hippos, elephants and so on … and so on …

Visiting Museu da Marioneta / Puppets Museum

In September we are going to visit Museu da Marioneta / Puppets museum. We are going to see small puppets from all over the world.
We are meeting in Cais do Sobré and walk to the museum. The entrance is free.
I will be with a blue cap in front of Pingo Doce at Cais do Sodré's Train Station.
We can go for lunch afterwards.

Picnic in Arco do Cego

On Thursday, 1th September at 19:00, we are having a picnic, after work, in the park Arco do Cego
[metro Saldanha].

Going to the beach - Costa da Caparica

Sunday afternoon we are going to Costa da Caparica's.
Cost: 5:50 € return [Train + Boat]
Meeting Point: in front of Pingo Doce at Cais do Sodré's Train Station.

We will meet in Cais do Sodré and take the train to Belém and then boat to get there.
We will arrive to Trafaria and then walk 20 minutes to reach the beach.

If possible bring your zapping card [transportation card] charged.

Visiting Cristo Rei

Visiting Cristo Rei
Cost: 7.40 euro (return boat ticket + Entrance Ticket)
Meeting Point: in front of Pingo Doce at Cais do Sodré's Train Station.
Date: Agust 15th at 2 pm.

Cristo Rei was created in the fifties to thank the fact that Portugal was not involved in the 2ª World war.
We are going to visit this religious place and enjoy the beautiful view.
The Entrance ticket is 5 euros.
We will get to the south side of the river by boat and then walk up hill for ½ hour.
If you want to take it easier, it is also possible to go there by overground metro.
Bring comfortable shoes. Afterwords I am planing to go to the beach, Costa da Caparica.

Picnic by the River

I am organizing a picnic by the river, close to Terreiro do Paço.
The idea is to eat and drink something there.
Bring whatever you want for eating and drinking
We are meeting at 12:15, at "Cais do Sodré" Train Station, in from of “Pingo Doce”. I will be there wearing a green cap from Portugal.
Then we will go to the park located between Cais do Sodré and Terreio do Paço.

LX Factor is an innovative cultural place where there are expositions, concerts and so on ...
It has also bars and a restaurants.
On Wednesday we are going there for dinner.

Visiting Aquário Vasco da Gama

Time: 24th July at 10:30

Founded by King D. Carlos I in 1898, 'Aquário Vasco da Gama' was created to commemorate the 400 years of Vasco da Gama's arrival to India. It is the oldest aquarium in Portugal.
It is plenty of fiches and turtles.
I remember to have seen as well an embalmed colossal squid.
We are going visit this cosy place where I am not going since decades.
After the visit, my idea is to go to the beach. So, just in case, bring as we swimming suit, sunscreen and some snacks.

The entrance ticket is 5 euros
We will get there by train (+- 3 euros return).

This time we are going to go back in time until the medieval times.
We are going to visit The Medieval Market of Óbidos.

Colete Encarnado em Vila Franca de Xira

In the first Saturday of July we are going to the Festivities of the city of Vila Franca de Xira, which are very related with bulls.

So, the plan is to get there by train and see the bulls running across the city.
[Don't worry about the bulls, this part is safe for them; but no so much to the guys that will cross in front of them]
After that we will eat sardinha, drink cerveja and vinho, walk around the city and see some live music.
At some point, we will take the train back to Lisboa.


The meeting point is in the Gare do Oriente, just outside the metro station, between the metro's exist and the book/CD's fair. We meet at 6:15 pm.

Fado in Bica II

On 28 of June, tuesday, we are going to listen fado live, in Bica (this time it will be really fado).
It is in a small bar. Free entrance.
I will be in Ginjinha do Rossio (10 meters away from Praça do Rossio, in front of Igrea de São Domingos), at 21:30, wearing a blue cap.

Picnic in Oriente

With the summer coming we fell like being outdoors.
We are going to meet at 11 am in Oriente Metro Station, walk one hour along the river and make a picnic under the bridge Vasco da Gama.

Portugal – Estonia, in Estádio da Luz

As warming up for the Euro Cup of football,
on 8 of June Portugal is playing with Estonia on Estádio da Luz.
We are going to watch the match live.

Visiting Palácio da Ajuda

Palácio da Ajuda was the residence of one last portuguese kings, D. Luis, in late XIX century.
We will visit Palácio da Ajuda on Sunday, 5th of June.
I suggest to bring some snacks in order to make a picnic afterwards.
We will meet at Cais do Sodré, in front of Pingo Doce at 10:00.
Then we will take the train to Belém and walk up hill for 10 minutes to Palácio da Ajuda.

The visit to the palace, on that day, is for free.
